Adventure Field Lab
Not sure what your favorite part of camp is? We’ll try it all! Go fishing, canoe the Kalamazoo River, create fine art at the Cabin in the Meadow, visit the DeLano Homestead or the Pioneer Cabin, or explore the Gravel Pits. If that’s not enough, give archery a try, work with an expert scientist, go on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Nature Center and feed the animals. This is your chance to choose your own adventure!

• Session 1: June 20-24 ~ Wild Adventures
Search out the superheroes of the natural world, get up close and personal with KNC creatures, and learn to identify plants and animals in their far-out habitats. Travel to the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary and the Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery.
• Session 3: July 11-15 ~ Working with Wildlife
Get a head start on exploring awesome wildlife careers! Practice wildlife field study techniques, and go behind the scenes and care for exhibit animals. Travel to the Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery and Binder Park Zoo.
• Session 5: July 25-29 ~ Ancient Science
Are you crazy for rocks, fossils, artifacts, and mummies? Explore geology, archeology, and paleontology. Travel to WMU’s Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education and visit the Mystery of the Mummy Exhibit at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum.
Adventure Skills Campout
Don’t climb the walls at home this summer, come explore the Nature Center! Do your favorite camp activities and learn the survival and camping skills needed for a real overnight adventure. Practice safety, knots, and rock climbing etiquette at Climb Kalamazoo. Dust off your paddle and head down the Kalamazoo River. Go wild with the wildlife and get ready for adventure!

• Session 4: July 18-22 ~ Wild Olympiad
Have a blast and tackle extreme nature events like Navigation Challenge, Photo Scavenger Hunt, Aqua Race, Camou-mania, and more. Survivor and the Amazing Race will have nothing on us!
• Session 6: August 1-5 ~ Survival Sense
Learn primitive and modern outdoor survival techniques like shelter and fire-building, archery, orienteering, and GPS navigation.
• Session 8: August 15-19 ~ Wild Adventures
Search out the superheroes of the natural world, get up close and personal with KNC creatures, and learn to identify plants and animals in their far- out habitats.
River Trek and Backpack Adventure
Are you ready for the ultimate camp experience? Camp 4 nights and 5 days and really explore the KNC property. Study dune ecology, swim, and camp at Saugatuck Dunes State Park and canoe on the Kalamazoo River. Learn plant and animal identification, tracking, camping skills, nature at night, and more.
